Sex & Young America Recognized for Production Excellence
April 12, 2002 - The National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families has received three bronze Telly awards for excellence in video production of Sex & Young America and Sex & Young America: The Real Deal.

After submitting the entire Sex & Young America curriculum package, the Real Deal video for parents, and the Internet safety segment from the videos, Jack Samad, producer of these programs designed to help parents and youth workers talk about sex with young people, was surprised to find out that each received the bronze Telly award.

"When I worked in the corporate world, I did hundreds of video productions a year, and only received Telly Awards for a few of them each year," Samad said. "I have never received awards for all of my submissions. It’s an honor to be recognized for producing such important educational videos."

The Telly Awards, one of the most sought after awards in the television, commercial and video industry, are judged based on a 10-point scale. Entries with a score of 7.0 to 8.9 are "finalists" and receive the bronze Telly award. Of the over 11,000 entries received by the Telly awards each year, approximately 14 to 18 percent are awarded the bronze Telly.

Past Telly Award winners include such highly recognized corporations such as Sony Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, ESPN, General Electric and Microsoft.
