Resolving the "Microsoft VBScript runtime error"
NOTE: When done, please use your BACK button to return to the store!
When I try to enter the shopping site I get an error message like "Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8'". What gives?
This is caused by a security setting in your browser, and it is most often seen after upgrading to Internet Explorer 6.0 (click here to read Microsoft's explanation). Our system uses something called "per-session cookies" which are a harmless kind of cookie that is allowed by all but the highest privacy settings in Internet Explorer. You could change the cookie security settings in your browser, but you don't really need to do that and you may not want to. A better approach is to simply add our shopping server's web address, www.data-works.com, to your list of trusted sites. To do this, proceed as follows:
Adding us to your list of Trusted Sites in Microsoft Internet Explorer...
* On the menu bar in your browser window, click on "Tools", then "Internet Options".
* Click on the "Security" tab, then click on "Trusted Sites" (a green circle with a check mark in it).
* Click the "Sites..." button.
* Make sure there is not a check mark in the box next to "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone". If there is, click on the box to uncheck it.
* Click in the field under "Add this Web site to the zone:" and type or copy the address "www.data-works.com" into that field (without the quotation marks).
* Click "Add", then "O.K.", then "O.K." again.
Now go back and try to enter the site again. If you get the error again, you may have to hit the "F5" key to refresh your screen or open a new browser window. If you still have trouble, please send an e-mail to ajdecenso@evistics.com.
